A letter to the baby girl:

Addie,
You are my single greatest accomplishment. You are the pinnacle of all of my childhood hopes and dreams. You have given me the most extraordinary life in just 10 weeks. I do not remember life before you, and I cannot imagine life without you. My heart aches with the love I have for you. I have so many hopes and dreams for you, that I can only hope that you'll share someday. If not, that's ok too- I'll always encourage you to dream your own dreams and set your own goals, and just to always know that I'll be behind to you support you the whole way.
You amaze me. Your personality, your gestures and expressions, your awe at the world, inspires me to be better than what I am. You motivate me to lead you by example. Your presence pushes me to be the best role model that I can be. I want everything for you. I don't ever want there to be an opportunity that passes you by because I didn't give you the tools you needed to grasp it. I want to be everything you need and want, and I want to help guide you to be the greatest person that you can be.
Your future is endless, the decisions and chances ahead of you are yours and only yours to take advantage of. I will do everything I can to give you the skills that will assist you in your endeavors. There will come a time that I will not be able to make decisions for you. You will be responsible for the paths that you choose, and the consequences will be only yours. Good or bad. Of course my heart will swell with pride, or ache in worry either way, but ultimately, your successes or trials will belong to you.
Please know that there will be times that you and I won't see eye to eye. Your teenage years will roll around and I will become the woman who stands in the way of your good times, the one who pushes you to choose your homework over hanging out with friends, and the woman who deals your punishments when they're necessary. There will probably be a period of time that you resent me, but please always know that I am acting in your best interest and doing what I can to steer you on a path to success.
I am blessed with an amazing example to follow, and that is how I know the things that I do now. I'm going to try to never act like I know everything, because frankly, you continue to teach me every day. In the mean time, I hope that you'll grow to appreciate the things that I do for you, as I've grown to appreciate the things that my mother has done and sacrificed for me. There is no love like the love a mother has for her children, and someday you'll learn that too.
I love you munchkin girl. You're my whole world dressed in pink and bows.
Love you always,
Mommy
